Connect Slack to Odie

Connect your Slack workspace to Odie so your team can use the Slack integration. One person authenticates the connection for your Odie organization. This article explains how to connect and what permissions the app requests.

Connect your Slack workspace

You need permission to install apps in your Slack workspace. If your workspace requires app approval, involve your Slack administrator.

  1. In Odie, open Settings > Integrations.
  2. Find Slack and click Connect.
  3. Click Authenticate Slack.
  4. In the Slack authorization window, confirm that you have selected the correct workspace.
  5. Review the requested permissions and approve the installation.
  6. Return to Odie and confirm that your Slack workspace appears as connected.

Review the requested permissions

The Slack connection requests 14 permissions. These support message delivery and other Slack app features, including mentions and conversation history.

FAQs

Does every team member need to authenticate?

No. One installation connects the Slack workspace to your Odie organization.

Does authentication give Odie access to every channel?

The app can view public channel information and send messages to public channels without joining them. Reading channel history or receiving mentions requires channel membership. For private channels, a channel member must invite the app before it can access the channel.

How do I give the app access to a private channel?

Open the private channel in Slack, enter /invite, and select the installed Odie app.

Why is Slack missing from the integration options?

Slack may need to be enabled for your Odie organization. Contact Odie Care Team if it does not appear.
